Sadly, due to the COVID-19 outbreak, LiveGirl will not be hosting our traditional Camp LiveGirl this summer. We hope that you can still join us for one of the following opportunities.

In addition, we will be posting a Camp LiveGirl @ Home curriculum in July.

CONFIDENCE CLUBS

June 22-26 @ 2-3:30pm
In-person Confidence Clubs

Location: LiveGirl Office, free of charge

The COVID-19 outbreak has been a trigger for stress and anxiety, especially for our youth. As we strive to return to normal schedules, we are here to provide a connection and safe space to talk about your feelings.

Led by TWO trained LiveGirl mentors, this workshop will start with a self-inventory of one’s current mental health and proceed with ideas and goal-setting to re-establish a healthy lifestyle: staying mindful in the present, focusing on what you can control, and monitoring habits, emotions, and thoughts. The objective is to equip girls with tools to manage stress/anxiety, including Yoga, Meditation, Journaling, Social Awareness, Using Your Voice for Good, Healthy Relationships (food, friends & family).

WHAT

Camp LiveGirl brings together middle school girls from across Connecticut and New York for leadership development and girl empowerment in a fun, diverse, team-based environment.

DayOne-5565.jpg

MORNINGS
Girls complete our Brave Leadership Academy and hear from inspiring keynote speakers, such as Jessica Long, the second most decorated U.S. Paralympic athlete of all time; NY Times bestselling author Georgia Hunter “We Were The Lucky Ones”, and CNN Anchor, Alisyn Camerota.

AFTERNOONS
St. Luke’s School campers will complete a STEAM designLab and Saxe Middle School campers will select either multi-sports, musical theatre, or STEAM designLab. Camp LiveGirl is dedicated to giving girls the time and space to reflect on who they want to be and how to be true to themselves.  Girls come away with improved self-confidence, communication skills, and relationship skills.

WHY

Now more than ever, the need for girl empowerment and preparing the next generation of female leaders is clear and urgent. Research has shown that girls-only settings promote a greater “can do” attitude, a greater impact on young women’s social self-confidence, a more effective environment for personal development, and a more supportive environment to pursue STEM and leadership opportunities.

HOW

Our high school mentor:camper ratio is 8:1. By using a small team model, all girls immediately feel a positive sense of belonging at camp and form close bonds with their teammates.

AFTERNOON ACTIVITIES

STEAM designLab

Take it Apart: Reverse Engineering

In this STEAM exploration, we will open up small electronics such as toy trains and old telephones to see what is inside. Reverse engineering is a fun way for students to identify parts of a circuit, understand how they function, and harvest parts for building new circuits. We will explore circuitry using micro-controllers. Physical computing tools like little bits will also be explored in this fun and satisfying dismantling of everyday things. This class is appropriate for Middle School Aged Students.

Taught by Kimberly Gerardi, DesignLab educator at St. Luke's School

Field Games

Every day the girls will participate in sports activities and play field games. Girls will learn a variety of new skills, while putting their current talents to good use while playing basketball, volleyball, soccer, track & field, lax, strength training, and yoga.

Musical Theatre

Girls will learn to act, sing, and dance!
Taught by the Victoria Iparraguirre of the Manhattan School of Music

LIVEGIRL 'BRAVE LEADERS' CURRICULUM
