Welcome To Our Racial Justice Roadmap
TRUTH THAT DARES
OUR GOAL: TO REFLECT SPEAKING THE TRUTH YET DARING TO MAKE BOLD CHANGE
The Racial Justice Youth Roadmap has been thoughtfully designed to engage youth (grades 5-12) and their parents in racial justice advocacy. In order to achieve racial justice, we must learn, unlearn and listen to, then amplify, the voices of color and experience. Most importantly, we must take action.
Where Do I Begin?
Read the descriptions below and be cognizant of which best describe you. Know that you can be at different points on this scale in different areas in your life or even on a day to day basis – what is important is that you recognize it and do what you can to move towards genuine solidarity.
Step 1: Click the quiz button below, you will be taken to a list of Implicit Association Test (IAT) created by Harvard University. Hidden Bias Tests measure unconscious, or automatic, biases. Your willingness to examine your own possible biases is an important step in understanding the roots of stereotypes and prejudice in our society.
Click the IAT on race—which takes less than five minutes to complete. This evaluates subconscious bias you may have towards the black community using your own automatic impulses and reflexes.
Step 2: Follow the truth page to learn and unlearn.
Step 3: Follow the dare page and get ready to take some action.
