When I was a young girl, I always had so much to say, but never knew how to say it. For some reason, I was so scared to speak my mind. Now that I’m older, I have found my voice and I am no longer afraid to use it. It took me a while to realize the power I had within myself, but now that I realize how impactful my words are, no one can silence me. Every girl has an inner lioness; she remains asleep until the girl is ready to embrace her inner power and let her lioness roar. As LiveGirl Mentor and CT State Representative Caroline Simmons says, “Women make up over half the population. It’s so important that girls and young women make their voices heard on issues they care about. Don’t sit and wait for the opportunities to come. Go and make them.”
So, instead of staying quiet and hoping that someone else will say what you want to say, speak up. Sing! Scream! Shout it from the rooftops! Because your voice matters. Your words are yours and no one else’s. They are your most prized possession. Your words define you and with them you can start a movement, make a difference, and even change the world.
