Has it been five years already?
Back then, I decided to create a girls’ leadership organization and “pay it forward” to the next generation of female leaders. As we celebrate our five year anniversary, it is the perfect time to launch our new monthly newsletter. Our community and programming have become so rich and diversified, and this newsletter will make sure that you’re not missing out on any of our amazing programs or resources.
I am passionate about our work to help close the female leadership gap. With every girl that we reach-- who transforms with confidence and can look me in the eye when she is speaking or take up more space when she is presenting an idea -- I feel energized by the impact. I have seen the difference that one charismatic adult can make in a young person’s life. For girls, having access to fierce female role models who look like them is life-changing.
I often get asked the question, “What are you reading or doing with your daughter (Olivia)?” Recently, I took my daughter to see “What the Constitution Means to Me” on Broadway. It is a riveting and thought-provoking play that is an act of civic engagement. If you’re looking for some books to share with your daughter this summer, we loved Ivy & Bean (elementary), Abby Wambach’s Wolfpack, Michelle Obama’s Becoming, or The Power by Naomi Alderman (16+). And don’t let your daughter say, “There’s nothing to dooooooooo.” Download our "Summer Try This!" activity.
We are grateful that you are a part of our community. We hope that you enjoy this newsletter! If you do, don’t keep it to yourself. Share it with a friend. It’s going to take all of us to make this world a better place for our daughters.
