“A week-long camp, a life-long perspective”

THEME: Confident Girls Change the World!

WHO: Rising 5th-8th grade girls (teams formed by grade)

WHAT:  Camp LiveGirl brings together middle school girls from across Connecticut and New York for a week of leadership development and girl empowerment in a fun, diverse, team-based environment.  In the mornings, girls complete our Brave Leadership Academy and hear from inspiring keynote speakers, such as Jessica Long, the second most decorated U.S. Paralympic athlete of all time; NY Times bestselling author Georgia Hunter “We Were The Lucky Ones”, and The Waverly Project CEO Molly Wills.  In the afternoons, girls select either multi-sports, musical theatre, or (NEW!) STEAM Design Lab. Camp LiveGirl is dedicated to giving girls the time and space to reflect on who they want to be and how to be true to themselves.  Girls come away with improved self-confidence, communication skills, and relationship skills.

Camp LiveGirl is dedicated to giving your girl time and space to reflect on who she wants to be & how to be true to herself!  Girls come away with improved self-confidence, communication skills, and relationship skills. Personalized afternoon schedule includes multi-sports or musical theatre. A camp like no other!!

WHY:  Now more than ever, the need for girl empowerment and preparing the next generation of female leaders is clear and urgent. Research shows that 7 in 10 girls believe that they are not good enough or don’t measure up in some way. Research has shown that girls-only settings promote a greater “can do” attitude, a greater impact on young women’s social self-confidence, a more effective environment for personal development, and a more supportive environment to pursue STEM and leadership opportunities.

HOW: Our high school mentor:camper ratio is 8:1. By using a small team model, all girls immediately feel a positive sense of belonging at camp and form close bonds with their teammates.

STEAM Design Lab (Take it Apart: Reverse Engineering)

In this STEAM exploration, we will open up small electronics such as toy trains and old telephones to see what is inside. Reverse engineering is a fun way for students to identify parts of a circuit, understand how they function, and harvest parts for building new circuits. Soldering, and tinkering will be explored in this fun and satisfying dismantling of everyday things.
Taught by Kimberly Gerardi, designLab educator at St. Luke's School.

Every day the girls will participate in TWO sports activities. Girls will learn a variety of new skills, while putting their current talents to good use while playing basketball, volleyball, soccer, track & field, lax, strength training, and yoga.

Musical Theatre

Girls will learn to act, sing, and dance! Taught by the Summer Theatre of New Canaan, girls will learn scenes from STONC’s summer show.

CAMP FEE: $350 includes transportation, t-shirt, journal, lunch & snacks. (Scholarships & payment plans available.) $50 nonrefundable deposit due upon registration.

The overall goal is to build social emotional intelligence and self-esteem. In other words, the goal is to help girls truly love and believe in themselves and equip them with the leadership skills necessary to have a positive impact on the world.  Girls will discover  their inner LiveGirl, so that upon completion of the program they are prepared to LIVE our leadership values.

• LIVE your true self: Love yourself, believe in yourself, and embrace your original, unique self.

• LIVE brave: Embody resilience and perseverance to overcome obstacles; stand up and speak out for what you believe in.

• LIVE kind: Connect positively with yourself and others and have a positive impact on the world around you.

• LIVE your power: Identify and leverage your inner powers; activate and self-empower to change the world.
